If you got your Associates in Paralegal Studies & the program was ABA approved does it matter?

where you attend to obtain a Bachelors in Paralegal Studies? Like for example I’m looking into Keiser University but their Paralegal Studies program isn’t ABA approved. Is it necessary for it to be ABA approved since my Associates is? Feedback from current/former Paralegal students, attorneys, faculty, etc is preferred. Thanks!

I think attorneys mostly look at what you know. I suppose if you want to work at a high power big firm, it could matter.
ABA lack of approval can be for reasons unrelated to quality. For example, my law school for years was not approved because they offered part time programs. Didn’t make sense, but that’s the way they are.
See if they are accredited/certified by someone such as the state bar.
I’m a paralegal, but never went to a paralegal program. I did go to law school. Of the other paralegals at my firm, one went to a program at a community college and one didn’t. We have another who got the AA degree, but she’s not working as a paralegal. It is a small family firm.
You might call around at firms and ask them if they have a preference.
The best thing for future jobs is doing an internship or getting a regular job in while you go for the BA. Your employer might even pay for it.
